TN Visas
The TN visa classification permits qualified Canadian and Mexican citizens to seek temporary entry into the United States to engage in business activities at a professional level. A TN Visa is similar to an H-1B visa except that it is only available to Canadians and Mexicans. Among the types of professionals who are eligible to seek admission as TN nonimmigrants are accountants, engineers, lawyers, pharmacists, scientists, and teachers.
In order to be eligible for a TN visa, you must show that you are citizen of Canada and Mexico and that you have a pre-arranged job in the U.S. in one of the qualifying fields. You must also demonstrate that you have the professional qualifications appropriate to this sort of position. While Mexicans must apply for a TN Visa at a U.S. consulate, Canadians can apply by presenting the appropriate documentation to U.S. Customs and Border protection at the U.S. border.
